Each year, United Way and our partners team up to provide FREE backpacks and school supplies for students entering K-6th grade. We are lucky enough to be able to hold 7 of these events each year–one in each of the counties United Way of Northeast Mississippi serves.

The only requirements to receive a backpack and supplies are:

  • the child must be entering kindergarten through sixth grade
  • the child must be present at the event

There are no other restrictions. Your child can participate regardless of where he or she lives, which school he or she attends, or your family’s income. Grandparents or other responsible adults are also encouraged to bring children if their parents are unavailable on the day of the resource fair.

If you miss your county’s resource fair, please feel free to attend one of the other events!

All giveaways are held on a first-come, first-served basis. We will give out backpacks and supplies until we run out or until the end of the event, whichever comes first.

This year’s resource fair dates and locations are:

Chickasaw County:  Saturday, July 16 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Houston High School
Itawamba County:  Saturday, July 23 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Itawamba Attendance Center in Fulton
